Meet the “Dwexperts”: Mona Williams & Lindsay Lindquist
At Dweck Properties, our strength lies in our people. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to two of our most seasoned team members, Mona Williams and Lindsay Lindquist. With a combined 32 years of experience at Dweck Properties and its management company predecessor, these “Dwexperts” have shaped our company culture and resident experience across nearly every property in our portfolio.
Mona Williams, currently a Leasing Consultant at Crystal Square, embodies the warm, welcoming spirit that defines Dweck Properties. Her journey in property management began in 1982, and she began working at Dweck communities 1997. “It’s all I’ve ever done,” Mona shares with a smile. “I’ve been a property manager for over 15 years with different properties, an Assistant Manager, a Leasing Manager, but I love the Leasing Consultant role the most.” For Mona, the joy of her work comes from building relationships with residents. She recounts heartwarming stories of leasing to former high school classmates and forming bonds with long-term residents. “I had a resident at Plaza who passed away, and he left me his baby grand piano,” Mona recalls, her voice filled with emotion. “It’s these connections that make my job so rewarding.”
Mona’s approach to leasing is deeply personal. She takes pride in matching residents with their perfect home, often going above and beyond to ensure their comfort. “I always ask what they loved the most about the apartment and what caused them to pause,” Mona explains. “It’s about finding creative solutions and building trust.”
Lindsay Lindquist, our Director of Learning and Development, has worn many hats during her 16-year tenure. From Regional Leasing Specialist to Property Manager and now leading our training initiatives, Lindsay has seen Dweck evolve and grow. She draws on her experience in her many positions over the years to pass on her institutional knowledge to others. “Being in training, I get to work with all employees,” Lindsay explains. “There’s nothing I love more than seeing my people succeed and grow in their careers.” Her role allows her to shape the skills and knowledge of Dweck employees across all levels, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Lindsay’s approach to training is both comprehensive and empathetic. “Empathy is huge in property management,” she emphasizes. “We have to learn to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes to truly serve our residents and support our team members.”
Throughout their time at Dweck, both Lindsay and Mona have cultivated meaningful connections with residents, leaving lasting impressions on their hearts. Mona fondly recalls a touching moment at Crystal Plaza involving a resident with three sons in the military. When Mona’s Ukrainian daughter-in-law achieved U.S. citizenship, this resident gifted her one of her son’s American flags – a gesture that still gives Mona goosebumps. Lindsay shares a similarly heartwarming story from her time at Quimby on 23rd where an elderly resident would visit her daily. Years later, this connection endures, with Lindsay receiving a Christmas card each year containing a personal message that continues to touch her deeply. These experiences underscore the profound impact Dweck team members have on residents’ lives, and vice versa, creating a tapestry of shared memories that extend far beyond typical landlord-tenant relationships.
Both Mona and Lindsay agree that what sets Dweck apart is its unwavering commitment to its values and people-centric approach. “The culture is unheard of,” Mona states. “From the very top with the Dweck family, all the way down through the trainers and co-workers, you can’t beat it.”
Lindsay echoes this sentiment, highlighting the shift that occurred when Dweck transitioned from third-party to in-house management in 2021. “We became more people-centric,” she explains. “Whether it’s taking care of our employees or our residents, there’s just a lot more care involved in what we do.”
This culture of care extends beyond the workplace. Mona shares a touching story of how Dweck’s leadership supported her during a personally hard time, demonstrating the company’s commitment to its employees’ well-being.
As Dweck Properties continues to grow and evolve, team members like Mona and Lindsay play a crucial role in maintaining our core values and passing on their wealth of knowledge to the next generation of Dweck professionals. “I’m not here for a paycheck; I’m here to retire,” Mona says with conviction. “The values that Dweck lives by are values that I live my personal life by.”
For Lindsay, the future is about continuing to nurture and develop talent within the company. “Seeing them excel in their careers, whether they decide to stay with us or move on to other opportunities, is truly what gets me going every day,” she shares.
As we look ahead, we’re grateful for dedicated team members like Mona and Lindsay, whose expertise, passion, and commitment to our residents and fellow employees embody the very best of Dweck Properties. Their journey with us is a testament to the strong, supportive community we’ve built – one that extends far beyond the walls of our properties to touch the lives of everyone who calls Dweck home.
