When Jasmine Anderson’s name was announced at DweckSTARS as Dweck Properties’ Leasing Professional of the Year, she couldn’t believe it. “I never thought I’d be considered,” she said. “My heart was beating so fast.”

For someone who entered the property management industry just over two years ago with no prior leasing experience, the honor was more than an award. It was validation that she is learning the industry and has experienced growth worth recognizing.

Jasmine joined Dweck Properties in February 2024 after one of her longtime cosmetology clients mentioned an opening at Annapolis Bay Apartments. At the time, she was working full-time as a licensed hairstylist, building relationships with clients one appointment at a time. Property management wasn’t part of the plan, but she decided to take a chance. Today, looking back on that leap of faith, she’s grateful she did.

“Coming from a completely different industry, there were times I felt out of place,” Jasmine shared. “Receiving this award showed me that I’ve grown, learned a whole new set of skills, and that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”

While she officially stepped away from cosmetology only a few months ago to focus on her role at Dweck and spend more time with her daughters, Naomi and Jaide, one thing never changed: her passion for serving people. That passion shines through every part of her day.

Whether she’s preparing for apartment tours, walking vacant homes, following up with prospective residents, creating social media content, or planning resident events, Jasmine approaches each task with the same contagious enthusiasm that her teammates and residents have come to know.

“I love serving people,” she said simply.

It’s a philosophy that’s helped create memorable experiences throughout the Annapolis Bay community. This past holiday season’s celebration featured bingo, brunch prepared by a chef, a coffee and hot chocolate bar, crafts for children, giveaways, crossword puzzles, a photo booth, and plenty of opportunities for neighbors to connect. This month, residents have a fabulous pool party to look forward to. 

For Jasmine, these events are about much more than entertainment. They’re about creating a place where people genuinely feel at home. That same creativity extends beyond resident events and into Annapolis Bay’s social media presence, where Jasmine enjoys capturing everyday moments around the community. “I see the world in pictures,” she said. “I see the moment.”

Her creative eye naturally carries over into her work. Whether she’s styling an outfit with thrifted pieces, photographing life around the community, or showcasing her teammates’ personalities online, Jasmine believes authenticity is what people connect with most. “We have such a fun team,” she said. “I love being able to show that. We have such good relationships with our residents, and sharing those moments makes work even more enjoyable.”

Outside the office, creativity continues to fuel her days. She loves thrifting around Annapolis, dreams up DIY projects, including denim curtains made from old jeans, enjoys flower arranging, roller skating with her daughters, and starts many Saturday mornings cooking breakfast for her family.

One hobby, however, might surprise her coworkers. Jasmine journals constantly. She carries small journals with her wherever she goes, filling them with thoughts throughout the day. “My hand can’t catch all my thoughts,” she laughed. “Writing them down forces my brain to slow down.” That intentional pause reflects the mindset she brings to both work and life.

Despite her outgoing personality, Jasmine considers herself an introvert, a fact that often surprises people who know her. Her energy doesn’t come from being the loudest person in the room. Instead, it comes from being present with others, leading with kindness, and finding peace in the middle of busy days.

When asked how she balances work, family, and her many creative interests, her advice is refreshingly simple. “Breathe. Pray. And keep going.” She added, “There’s no method to everything that I do. I just try to be as peaceful as possible. I treat people well. I lead with love no matter what I’m doing, and it works.” It’s an approach that has earned her the respect of her team, built lasting relationships with residents, and ultimately led to one of Dweck Properties’ highest honors.

For Jasmine, Leasing Professional of the Year isn’t simply recognition for what she’s accomplished over the past two years. It’s proof that taking a chance, embracing growth, and leading with love can open doors you never expected.
