Dweck’s Guide to Farmers Markets: Fresh Flavors in Your Neighborhood
At Dweck Properties, we believe that a vibrant community life is essential to the well-being of our residents. This summer, we’re excited to spotlight the array of farmers markets that bring fresh, local produce and artisanal goods right to your doorstep. Whether you’re a long-time market enthusiast or a curious first-timer, this guide will help you make the most of these community treasures.
National Landing Farmers Markets
National Landing residents are in for a treat with not one but two fantastic farmers markets run by EatLoco LLC, both open from now until the end of October.
- Tuesday Met Park Farmers Market
- When: Tuesdays from 10AM to 2PM
- Where: S. Elm Street, Arlington, VA
- Saturday Met Park Farmers Market
- When: Saturdays from 9AM to 1PM
- Where: S. Elm Street, Arlington, VA
We had the pleasure of speaking with Dan Hine, founder and CEO of EatLoco LLC, about what makes these markets special. “We wanted to start something where farmers can make several thousand dollars a week, not just a couple hundred on some peaches and beans,” Dan explained. This commitment to supporting local farmers has paid off.
What sets EatLoco LLC markets apart? Dan emphasizes their organization and variety to ensure that every visit to the market offers something new to discover.
“We switch things up,” he says. “We have seasonal vendors who are there every week, and drop-in vendors who keep things fresh and exciting.”
The Met Park Farmers Market boasts an impressive array of vendors, each bringing their unique flavors to the community. Dan’s eyes light up as he describes the diverse offerings. “We have a vendor selling pork and sausage that they raise themselves,” he enthuses. “Our juice vendors offer 100% natural products – nothing but fruit!”
But it’s the produce that really gets Dan excited. He has a special fondness for Tyson Farms, a staple at every Met Park market. “Their peaches are incredible,” Dan raves. “Sometimes they’re picked the very day they’re sold. The freshness is unmatched.” Not to be outdone, Chestnut Hill Farm has Dan waxing poetic about their corn. “I’ve never tasted corn like this before,” he admits. “Even their first crop of the season, which they warned might not be perfect, was fantastic. It’s just a whole different level of flavor.” These vendors exemplify the quality and care that go into every product at the farmers market, offering Dweck residents a true farm-to-table experience right in their own neighborhood.

Making the Most of Your Market Experience
Dan offers some advice for market-goers: “Don’t come with just one item in mind. Come with an open mind and see what appeals to you.” This approach allows you to fully experience the variety and seasonal offerings at each market.
Why Choose Farmers Markets?
Farmer’s markets offer more than just fresh produce. They’re a way to connect with your community, support local businesses, and promote sustainable living. As Dan puts it, “You’re able to actually talk to the farmer who raised that cow or grew that produce. You can’t do that in a grocery store.”
From farm-fresh peaches picked that very morning to artisanal breads and locally-raised meats, the quality and flavor of market goods are unparalleled. Dan challenges skeptics: “I’ll give you an ear of corn from one of our farmers and an ear of corn from a grocery store. I promise you, you will pick the farmers market version every single time.”
At Dweck Properties, we’re proud to be part of communities that value fresh, local food and the connections it fosters. We encourage all our residents to explore these markets and experience the vibrant flavors of our neighborhoods. So grab your reusable bags, bring your curiosity, and discover the joys of your local farmers market. Who knows? You might just find your new favorite food-shopping tradition!
